Fidget or spinner rings are designed to provide a calming sensory experience while keeping your fingers engaged. There are two main types of spinner ring, both with their benefits.
What are Spinner Rings?
Spinner rings, also known as worry rings, fidget rings or meditation rings, feature a band with one or more movable parts. This design allows you to fidget with the ring by spinning the outer band, or moving beads around a band, providing a soothing and repetitive motion for your fingers. They're great for relieving stress in a subtle way, instead of getting out a clunky or obvious fidget toy.
Beaded Fidget Rings
Beaded fidget rings usually have one or more beads on a smaller band. By sliding the beads back and forth, you can enjoy a tactile sensory experience that can help improve focus and concentration. The beads can be smooth, textured, or a mix of both!
For the minimalist, choosing a plain band with smooth beads is the best option. But if you're looking for something a little extra, a chunky band might be for you!
All Curious Owl fidget rings are made with sterling silver or solid gold bands, so you can trust they'll stand the test of time (and your fidgeting)!
Spinner Bands
Spinner bands are a little different - they're usually a wider band with a slimmer ring that moves freely around the middle. This is normally done by flaring the edges of the wider band so the spinner/s sit inside.
The choices are endless when it comes to spinner bands. They range from a medium width to something a little chunkier. There's the option to have multiple bands to move and play with, so you can really mix your textures and wear a statement piece of jewellery.

One of the pros of a larger band, along with adding multiple spinner rings, is the option to personalise - like this Personalised Heart Spinner Ring - which can be engraved inside.
What about interlocking rings?
Interlocking rings usually feature at least two rings, connected together. This can be by actually weaving the two bands together, or connecting them with smaller links. They do have a fidget element to them, as the bands can be rolled against each other, or the links moved along the bands.
Interlocking rings have traditionally been used for hundreds of years as wedding rings, or to signify love and commitment. The joining of two or more bands creates a solid bond that cannot be broken, reminiscent of the infinity symbol.
Interlocking rings joined by smaller links are becoming increasingly popular. This style gives the option to mix textured bands together and essentially create a locked set of stacking rings - like this three band option.
So, which is right for me?
When it comes to choosing the right style of fidget or spinner ring, there's really no right or wrong answer. If you're looking for something subtle, beaded fidget rings are probably the way to go. But if you want your piece to stand out, consider going for a wide band spinner or interlocking bands.
